Mauritius doesn't have a traditional four-season climate. It has a warm, wet summer and a cooler, dry winter, and the difference between them matters a lot for anyone planning a boat trip or beach holiday.
Summer runs roughly November to April. This is the hottest, most humid period, with daytime temperatures regularly above 30°C and warm, sticky evenings. It also contains the cyclone season, which officially spans November to mid-May, with January to March carrying the highest storm risk.
Winter runs roughly May to October. Days are warm rather than hot, humidity drops, and rain becomes noticeably less frequent. The southeast trade wind blows steadily, which keeps the air comfortable and the east coast pleasantly breezy.

What Cyclone Season Actually Means
The words “cyclone season” frighten more people than they should. In practice, Mauritius is hit directly only occasionally, and the systems that do approach usually bring a day or two of heavy rain and strong wind rather than destruction. What it means for your trip is that you should build in flexibility: don't book a non-refundable catamaran trip for your very last day in the country, and be ready for operators to reschedule if a storm is tracking toward the island.
Between May and November this is a non-issue. And even in summer, most days are still bright and sunny — you simply accept that a storm day is possible. A good operator will have a clear cancellation and weather policy for exactly this reason.
